Erika Gentry is a Multimedia Artist and Educator. Working across diverse media and platforms including photography, video and interactive installation projects, she investigates the construction of identity and the evolving role of technology and place. With a deep understanding of the photographic medium, she is interested in how contemporary methods intersect with historical debates. She exhibits and travels internationally and in 2014 was an artist in residence in and around Paris, France funded in part by a Tenot Foundation Grant and a Center for Cultural Innovation Investing in the Arts Grant. Proficient in French, Gentry designs photography workshops for intermediate photographers in Provence (www.photographyinfrance.com) and has also taught for The Rochester Institute of Technology, The San Francisco Art Institute, Foothill College, City College of San Francisco, CSU Summer Arts 2014 and Rayko Photo Center.
She is currently a full-time faculty member and Photography Department Chair at the City College of San Francisco and serves on the National Board of Directors for The Society for Photographic Education.
