Introduction to Studio Lighting
In this hands-on workshop students will learn the basic principles of studio lighting by creating photographs as a group in RayKo’s full size studio. We will cover types of studio lights, setup, metering, color temperature/white balance, lighting ratios, light modifiers, and basic digital workflow in the studio. We will set up and demonstrate some basic lighting setups with time for everyone to shoot in the studio. All images will be available for immediate review on a calibrated iMac display. All work is done digitally in class but film shooters are welcome and the differences will be covered. Students should expect to leave with a solid understating of the core principals used in studio lighting.
PRE-REQ: Students should have a good understanding of manual mode, aperture, shutter speeds and ISO or film speed.
BRING: Notebook and wear comfortable shoes, we will be working in the studio all day.
