MARSHALL BERMAN

Marshall Berman graduated from the University of Southern California with a dual major in cinema and fine art. He has also produced and directed for the theatre and film. His current studio is home to a variety of applied arts including his museum-exhibited welded steel sculptures.

Marshall's Teaching Philosophy is:

Almost every time I take on a new assignment I begin by visualizing that assignment with a self imposed, "naive-like attitude" for fear of missing the spontaneous. That process (which I always share with my students, allows me to feel like I'm observing for the first time the freshest view of anything in front of me. It's kinda like picking a radish or an onion out of it's home in the soil and embracing that moment as  the earth falls away.

Have you done that lately ?…I always ask ?
