Personal Projects in Photography
This five-week course is designed for photographers who have an idea they would like to pursue or who are currently creating a photographic body of work. This class will give you support to generate work that communicates with and inspires others. In class, students share their work and ideas, bringing images they have taken and discussing their intentions and interest in the work. A survey of photographers will be presented, along with tips and techniques for shooting to help each student develop technical skills. Not primarily a technical course, students are expected to have a working knowledge of their camera and putting their images on-line or creating prints for sharing with the class. We will consider the tone of an image, the story a photo tells, compositional techniques, and how one image can influence another within a body of work. Through studying the creative process, taking chances, creating new work each week, class review, and thoughtful editing, students will see their ideas grow into a body of photographic work.
BRING: Notebook and up to 10 images (digital or traditional prints) of previous work.
