In this class, students will explore the role of portraiture as both historical subject and as a personal project. Students will be given assignments each week, and emphasis will be given to each student's personal projects. Topics covered include a critical look at portraiture, photographing your family as fine art, contemporary trends in fine art portraiture, in addition to instruction on developing your own personal project. A willingness to experiment and learn from others is important for this class, as well as participation in group critique based on assignments.
